Most of the books & materials in this library are organized by library of congress call number.

To find the call number for a book or other item:

  1. Start with the Books & Media tab on the library homepage
  2. Type in the title or subject you're interested in.
  3. An example of print material with the call number highlighted is below.

Book cover with highlighted call number

The highlighted number PR2987.S465 2013 is the Call Number. This number will tell you where the book is on the shelf. You will also want to pay attention to the Location (this tells you both which library your book is in and where it is in that library) and the Status (make sure it's available and not already checked out).

For example, this book is Available (meaning it can be checked out) at the University Library (Main Library) in the book collection on the 3rd floor.

If you have any trouble finding the book or material you need, please ask at the Ask Us! desk on the 2nd floor or at the Circulation Desk on the 1st floor.
