When we purchase an ebook, it's just like purchasing a print book - we have access to one copy of it. When you are viewing that ebook electronically, it is like you have taken the book off the shelf and taken it back to your table. Occasionally, we can purchase more than one copy (or license) to an ebook, allowing multiple concurrent users. You have the option of viewing the ebook online or checking it out and downloading it to your computer for up to 7 days. When a book is checked out and no additional copies are available, other users who attempt to access the book will see the message in the attachment.
Unfortunately, electronic books are not free information, and we cannot purchase unlimited copies, just as we cannot purchase unlimited copies of print books for our shelves in Samford Library. If you have problems accessing a particular item, please don't hesitate to Ask Us by phone, chat, or email! We will do whatever we can to help you find your information.
